Autumn Shades: This song was written in 1977 after hearing Miles Davis play Autumn Leaves at a fast tempo. I was inspired to write a new melody that would flow better at this new fast pace, and based it on the original chord changes of Autumn Leaves.

Some Other Time: This Leonard Bernstein tune is a dedication to the late great pianist Bill Evans, and whom I am happy to say I got to know and spend time with in his later years. This song was a staple in Bill's vast repertoire.

Footprints: On Wayne Shorter's Footprints, I used some tape delay echo (Echoplex) on the intro.

Walking the Sunrise: This a tune I wrote based on the chord changes of "Softly As in A Morning Sunrise". Lerroy Vinnegar has a very special way of "walking" on bass lines, hence the title. I play a quote from "Struttin' With Some Bar-B-Que" and Frank Bulter surprised me by answering with the same figure on drums. He was a master at this kind of spontaneity.

Windows: Kei Akagi starts this Chuck Corea composition with an extra long electric piano intro to set things up.

Milestones: On Milestones, I overdubbed two sopranos and one tenor saxophones. The melody line has a slight kicker on Miles' original melody line.

Tenor Suite: A solo that I composed and performed recently. It is dedicated to my late friend Frank Bakes.
